Hey crafty friends. Thank you so much for joining me on my crafty adventures. I just wanted to take a moment and tell the story of how I got here.
Remember way back in 2020 when we were all like WTF is going on? You know because of that C word. I was right there with the rest of the world trying to find something to keep sane while in lockdown. Trying not to sanitize myself, my family, and my house. But let me be honest I sanitized everything in sight. My newest fashion statement was my mask and my OCD had never been happier with the cleanliness I was able to provide it. I will admit I was one of the ones who went into panic mode once I realized COVID wasn’t going anywhere. So my household went into hiding like so many others. Since COVID started my partner got a new car (wooohoo). We along with our child (who identifies as a male teenager) (but was really only 8) discovered the good-ol-family road-trip. We live in the beautiful PNW (Pacific NorthWest) so there is an endless amount of nature to be seen and explored. Anyways back to where I was going with this. I like so many others was looking for something to keep sane. The road-trips were great and so many memories were made while exploring our beautiful state but winter was coming. If you have ever been to the PNW you know autumn/winter (and who am I kidding spring too) means rain. So we decided to put our road-trips to the side for a few months. Since we would be staying indoors together for a long period of time I thought it was a great time to finally buy that Cricut I’d been eyeing for a few years. I have never been much of a crafter. I have basically zero artistic ability outside of bored doodling. So we ventured into the local Michael’s and decided on the mint Cricut Explore Air 2. My partner told me to pick out the other accessories I would need. I was clueless so I bought vinyl. I look back and laugh at myself now. I didn’t buy tools for what I now know is called weeding. I didn’t buy this thing called transfer tape. I started working with my Cricut immediately. At the time I was stationed between my coffee table and my son’s school desk (home school due to COVID). I quickly figured out that was not going to work. With a lot of help from my partner and my years of being obsessed with HGTV I was able to rework our classroom/office into the classroom/office/craft room! Once I discovered there were groups on FB just for people using Cricut products I joined as many groups as I could. I worked my way around my Cricut and Design Space pretty well in no time at all. I joined a group that was for crafters of all sorts and levels. That’s where I expanded my knowledge of the Cricut universe and really the crafting universe. It was this group that introduced me to card making on my Cricut then to the world of die cutting on machines like the Sizzix Big Shot Plus. Which is of course what I have because you know why not discover something new and go out and buy the biggest of them all. Ok well it’s not the biggest but it’s close. I found a good price for it on Amazon so I don’t feel too guilty for finding another rabbit hole to dive down and spend more money. Good thing my partner is supportive of whatever I do. He really is the best and I know it. So that’s kind of how it all started. Now I’m here making cards for all occasions. I know that was a long story not cut short. Sorry about that. Kind of. I hope you’re still here after all of that. Let’s get this started. I have no clue what I’m doing. I’m just here to share my journey of card making with the world. I hope to see you on my next blog post. Thanks for tuning into my crafty life.
